Excessive perspiration corresponds to excessive production of sweat, beyond what is physiologically required to regulate body temperature. This condition affects approximately 5% of the population and can sometimes be linked to a condition or treatment. However, in most cases, the true cause is unknown. Hyperhidrosis of the underarms is characterised by localised and excessive perspiration under the arms, which mainly occurs during the day and symmetrically (left and right underarms). It can be a real disadvantage in daily life (unsightly sweat patches) and have a significant impact on an individual's personal, social and professional life, causing anxiety and even depression. There are various treatments for localised excessive perspiration, which include antiperspirants. Those containing aluminium salts are the most effective. Unlike deodorants designed simply to camouflage the odours caused by perspiration, antiperspirants containing aluminium salts help effectively reduce the flow of perspiration on treated areas.
