The management of eczema on a daily basis requires adapted cleansing, which is an essential prelude to care. Choosing an eczema soap is sometimes a real headache because the offer is very varied. Here are a few tips to help you find your way around what’s out there!
A soap suitable for eczema is very often defined by what it does not contain. In particular, no fragrances or allergenic substances. A soap for atopic skin should contain a limited number of ingredients.
Contrary to what its name might suggest, a soap suitable for eczema does not contain soap molecules! This is known as a syndet or "soap-free soap". Soap molecules are often too aggressive and can dry out the skin.
Soap molecules are sometimes preserved in soaps for atopic skin, but plant-based oils are added to the formula to limit skin dryness. This is known as ultra-rich soap for eczema.
In all cases, read labels carefully and select a soap for atopic skin to fight eczema on a daily basis.

Eczema soaps can be used like any other soap, in the shower and in small quantities. Use your hands rather than gloves to apply anti-eczema soap. Rinse well and dry gently by dabbing with a soft towel.
Avoid scented soaps. Traditional soaps such as Marseille soap and Aleppo soap should also be avoided. They are certainly 100% natural but their pH is too high and their numerous soap molecules tend to dry out the skin.
