Hyperpigmentation affects many people, and on different places of the face and body. While brown spots on the breasts are of course less visible than those on the face, they can be a source of embarrassment and even give women a complex.
Hyperpigmentation on the body usually results from a combination of several phenomena. In the case of brown spots on the breasts, sun exposure combined with skin aging can cause pigmentation spots to appear. Other environmental factors also contribute to premature aging of the décolleté, including the wind, cold weather, tobacco and pollution.
Note: an areola is the pigmented circle surrounding the nipple. In the particular case of pregnancy, female hormones increase melanin activity and the areola tends to become darker.
You will generally find brown spots on the décolleté.
There may also be brown spots between the breasts and brown spots under the breasts, but this is rarer, or it may be another condition such as a skin fold mycosis. If in doubt, it is important to consult a health professional.
The skin on the breasts and décolleté is fragile, so you must treat it very gently. First and foremost, make sure you don’t forget or neglect this part of your body during your daily skin care routine!
One of the key ways of effectively fighting photo-aging as early as possible is to moisturize the skin on the breasts and décolleté and protect it from the sun.
Dermo-cosmetics exist that can correct brown spots and even out and protect the skin. In addition, dermatologists can offer specific solutions such as a depigmenting laser treatment.
