Summary

Anti-brown spot laser: how does it work?

Lasers can be a solution against hyperpigmentation, in particular when dermo-cosmetics or medicinal treatments have not worked.

A laser is a source of electromagnetic radiation associated with a given wavelength. The laser reaches a target in the skin and destroys it locally. In case of hyperpigmentation, the laser will attack the melanin present in the skin, making it possible to erase the brown spots.

Is treatment of brown spots with lasers effective?

The anti-brown spot laser is an effective treatment. A few sessions are generally sufficient to achieve a satisfactory result. But beware! If you do not eliminate the risk factors, including sun exposure, then the brown spots may reappear.

An anti-brown spot laser will be more effective on dark marks (richer in melanin) than on lighter ones.

An anti-brown spot laser cannot be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The anti-brown spot laser: before and after

Before using a laser on brown spots: avoid sun exposure and apply effective sun protection in the weeks preceding the session. Apply an anesthetic cream one hour before the session.

After the anti-brown spot laser session: continue avoiding the sun for at least one month after the session. Apply a healing and repair cream in the days following the session. Redness and small scabs are normal and will gradually disappear.
